Presentation of the gallery

Founded in 2019, By Lara Sedbon promotes contemporary artists who stand out for their technique, their deep relationship to practice and their questioning of the creative process. The link between the contemporary dimension of their art and a certain form of classicism is at the heart of the gallery's programming.
After ten years on the art market at the heart of galleries (deputy director at Art Plural Gallery, Singapore and then director at Galerie Templon, Paris), Lara Sedbon rethinks the link between the artist and the gallery and promotes a personal follow-up dedicated to each person's career.
A graduate of ESSEC and EHESS and holder of a degree in philosophy from the Sorbonne, Lara Sedbon has always been committed to favouring a multidisciplinary approach, placing meaning at the heart of the artistic approach.

Presentation of the artist in focus

Born in 1981, Fabien Mérelle lives and works in Tours.
After graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2006, he was the first winner of the Prix Canson in 2010. It entered the collections of the Centre Pompidou following the Guerlain donation in 2012.

Fabien Mérelle projects his body into a universe where everything is mixed - animal, vegetal and mineral - where the bark cuts into the skin, where man is like animals. A world where there is no longer any law of gravity, no propriety, no taboo. From these settings emerge detailed scenes, the sheet or the material as a receptacle for the author's thoughts, desires and anxieties. Sculpting the improbable in a realistic way, he reveals what goes on behind the scenes, another reality where Greek myths and ancestral beliefs are intertwined.
