Presentation of the gallery

Michèle Aittouarès founded the Galerie Berthet-Aittouarès in 1986. In 2000 she was joined by her daughter Odile Aittouarès, art historian and author of the catalogue raisonné of Friesz, co-founder of the St. John's Photo Festival. Germain and the Association JeudiDesBeauxArts.

Their collaboration began with the exhibition "China-West or the Adventure of the Sign" around Zao Wou-ki, Mark Tobey, Jean Degottex, Henri Michaux and Shan Sa.
The gallery occupies two spaces on the left bank; initially at 29 rue de Seine, then at 2 rue des Beaux-arts, the former gallery of
Pierre Loeb.
Mother and daughter specialize in modern and contemporary art with an emphasis on informal art from the 50's to the 80's. They are references for artists such as Jean Degottex, Hans Hartung, Pierre Tal-Coat, Henri Michaux, André Marfaing, Vera Molnar, Mario Giacomelli.
