In the works of Aliye Dorkip (Turkey, 1984) and Guillemette Coutellier (France, 1976), the bodies disperse into a strange dance. The figures of the first are on the run, torn, they no longer belong to themselves… Rage and tenderness fight over the members remaining on the blank sheet. In the second, the memories on photographs are rewritten, the familiar faces give way to others, ghostly, giggling. The work of these two artists is inhabited by spectra. They are abundant and richly painted and decorated by Guillemette Coutellier, while Aliye Dorkip’s economy of materials and features arouses the viewer’s empathy for these visions.
