Opened in 1999, the Anne Barrault gallery, dedicated to contemporary art, took over a new space in 2013 on rue des Archives, in the Marais district of Paris.
Since its beginnings, the gallery has been committed to working alongside young artists. She has presented many first solo exhibitions – Tiziana la Melia, Stéphanie Saadé, Guillaume Pinard, or Jochen Gerner – while inviting confirmed artists such as Daniel Spoerri or Roland Topor.
In 2021, it is the young artist, Neïla Czermak Ichti, (born in 1996), who has just presented her first solo exhibition at the gallery.
In twenty years of existence, the anne barrault gallery has never ceased to forge links between different disciplines, such as with the architect Yona Friedman whom she invited to exhibit or the writer, Pacôme Thiellement to be curator, and today Marie Losier, filmmaker, to present her first exhibition.
The gallery also supports artists in the production of their book(s) in collaboration with various publishers. This is how the monograph of Neïla Czermak Ichti, and that of Marie Losier have just been published.
Regularly, the gallery invites an independent curator to present an original proposal in his space: in 2017 Franck Balland organized an exhibition of Tiziana La Melia, and Marie de Brugerolle will be curator of a collective exhibition at the gallery in 2022.
