Gilles Barbier, born in Vanuatu, arrived in France at the age of twenty.

Since the very start, his protean work is crossed by a continuous flow of works on paper: from the copy of the dictionary tthe recent series of Hawaiian Ghosts, the drawing is for the artist a laboratory of thought and experimentation. All his obsessions, his origins, his fantasies, are to be found in his drawings. For Drawing Now, we present a selection of these works, putting indirectly up a self-portrait.
