The Maïa Muller Gallery is pleased to present for this fourteenth edition of Drawing Now Art Fair a focus on a set of drawings and mixed-technique works by Myriam Mihindou across one third of our stand. The artist presents through a series of charcoal writings, copper and etymologies, a constantly revisited series: “La Série de la Langue Secouée”. Myriam Mihindou was recently exhibited at the Centre Pompidou as part of the Ernest Mancoba monograph, curated by Alicia Knock. The artist’s first solo exhibition at the Maïa Muller gallery was in 2013, under the name “La Mandragore”. “The Series de la Langue Secouée, […] is an attempt at a physical appropriation of etymology, which integrates interweaved genealogies, both conscious and subconscious, that inhabit our relationship to words, especially when passing through the body.” * *Extract from the exhibition text by Alicia Knock for “Aucun de ses os ne sera brisé” at the Galerie Saint Severin, Paris.
