Douglas Gordon, The Morning After

And presentation of Alberto Giacometti's drawings

Guided tour on Thursday, May 19 at 5 pm with curator Christian Alandete.

"Alberto Giacometti / Douglas Gordon. The morning after" is the result of Scottish artist Douglas Gordon's residency at the Giacometti Institute, initiated in 2019 and ending in 2022. This exhibition presents all the new works that the artist has made for the occasion in dialogue with Giacometti's sculptures. Sculptures, videos, collages, installations, texts, Gordon has mobilized all aspects of his work to imagine an intimacy with the works of his elder. Literally placing his hands where Giacometti put his own, he proposes a new way of exhibiting Giacometti's miniature sculptures that illustrate, more than others, the fragility of the artist's condition in the face of creation. The exhibition is envisaged as an investigative report according to a set of analogies between the police universe and the history of art and presents for the first time many unpublished drawings by Giacometti executed on pages of novels of the Black Series.
