La Patinoire Royale | Galerie Valérie Bach opened its doors in April 2015 in a roller ice rink, the first in the world, built in 1877, and classified as a historical monument in 1995.
The gallery has drawn a free program in three distinct axes, structured around the woman artist, monumentality and a strong aesthetic concern. The editorial choice of exhibitions results from the materialization of a taste presiding over the choice of artists that the gallery accompanies in their international positioning, through participation in fairs and a vast network of collectors.
In addition, and in order to meet its quasi-institutional qualification, the gallery chooses to present more historical exhibitions, highlighting movements or currents of modern, Belgian or international art, such as Narrative Figuration, Kinetic Art or Belgian Abstraction, in sculpture and painting.
This gallery offers on 3000 m² four distinct spaces of different sizes: the large nave, the glazed gallery, the first floor and the ground floor, allowing the holding of exhibitions of different formats and expression, simultaneously or distinctly, giving the full measure of its wide artistic spectrum, in a cultural and educational aim clearly assumed. As such, each exhibition is curated, accompanied by a publication and a mediation service for the public.
