General
Of different birth places, Joël Degbo, Dumitru Gorzo and Naomi Safran-Hon, create work that makes riveting statements about the fragility of human experience, the complicated nature of one’s home, and the vicissitudes of collective identities. Their works share a common focuson the internal energy of the material; melding the imagery to the medium, the three artists are continuously emboldening the viewer to look beyond the surface. Apart from the process and their fascination with the intrinsic power of the materials, Degbo, Gorzo and Safran-Hon metaphorically hint to the surrounding politics. The differences and subtle similarities between their respective modus operandi as well as prominent conceptual correlations between the oeuvres of Degbo, Gorzo and Safran-Hon, make the side-by-side display of their work so compelling.
Joël Degbo studied at Beaux-Arts in Nantes, Central Saint Martin College of Arts and Design in London and Beaux-Arts in Paris.
